International Day of Climate Action is TOMORROW

Tomorrow in West Seattle people are gearing up to help combat climate change by building an edible garden that will supply the public and a food bank with fresh vegetables at the C & P coffee house. CoolMom, C&P Coffee House, Urban Land Army and Sustainable West Seattle are all banding together to create 4 large (3x6 feet) raised garden beds.

C & P coffee is located at: 5612 California Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98136-1515

Organic herb wreaths for Fall

Look, I know it isn't even Halloween yet, but I'm getting anxious...

It is time to face the facts- the waning colors of your garden are telling you to bring the bounty indoors: everlasting flowers, dried leaves, fruits, and grasses are a natural way to decorate for the holidays as well as a way to hold onto the last color of the season.

Living Christmas Tree

I always feel a little bummed out after the holidays and I am telling you, it has nothing to do with the presents I didn't get. It is the throwing away of the tree, and seeing all of its pine needled cousins littering the roads for weeks after Christmas is over. I don't know about you, but spending $100 bucks on something that I throw out in two weeks just seems like a bad investment.

a new place for birds to rest

Is it possible that we will all have green roofs in the future? Solar paneled siding on our houses that hook up our electric cars that we charge overnight? SO much is out there, so much information and what does it all mean? Is this "greening" of the world just going to be the next boom and bust, or are we going to be able to take all of this and translate it to the next generation?

Eat Your Yard

There is a new company in town and they are taking the new wave of vegetable growers and helping them make their vegetable growing dreams come true. Cascaidian Edible Landscapes or eatyouryard.com is a company that can do everything to help you start your vegetable garden. From building raised beds for you, picking out the right type of soil you need, delivering seedlings to your neighborhood, and coaching you through the rough spots of gardening- there is no way any black thumb can't grow a garden with the help of these guys.
