Popular authors Paul Gilding and John de Graaf warn that our current economic policies threaten both social and environmental collapse, but that we still have time to turn things around if we act now. They will discuss why it's time to stop chasing economic growth as our highest goal, and focus instead on quality of life, justice and sustainability. Join them as they discuss their latest books, and talk about The Happiness Initiative, a new national project based in Seattle.

Climate Change Impacts on Water Resources in the Pacific Northwest

Event Date:
05/12/2011 - 9:00am - 5:00pm
Event Location:
The Mountaineers Program Center
7700 Sand Point Way NE

Symposium background
The Pacific Northwest is already seeing impacts from climate change, in the form of receding glaciers, faster snowmelt and milder winters. These changes have potentially devastating effects on flood regimes, water availability and aquatic ecosystems. The better we understand the changes that have already happened and those that are predicted, the better we can plan and prepare for them. This one-day symposium will feature presentations from a range of experts about observed and modelled impacts of climate change on our region's water resources, and policy responses.
