This evening, all who attend are in for a special appearance from the Solar Goddess herself, Aimee Carpenter. If you've been following local solar news you may have seen Aimee featured in an article or possibly out and about at a renewable energy networking event.
Aimee will be presenting the next Solar 101 and answering the questions you may have about solar. You may be thinking to yourself, "Why in the heck would anyone in their right mind install a solar system at this time of the year? And, really, does solar even work in the Northwest?"
It's been a few months since we hosted a 201, so once again, now we're taking it to the next level. This time around you will learn the finer points of how a solar panel is built and works. All solar modules are not created equally so one needs to understand how to interpret the specifications of a solar module.
You'll learn about online tools and the independent agency that evaluates solar equipment so as to calculate how a module and a system will perform in the real world conditions of our climate.
Summer is just around the corner and anyone who's spent enough time here in the Puget Sound area knows that we have some of the best summer weather around. Long sunny days with warm, mild temperatures. A perfect scenario for solar power!
Did you know the sun gives off enough energy in one minute to power the earth for an entire year. All we need to do is figure out how to harness that energy.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
After 6 years of promoting solar installations in the City of Shoreline, the non-profit Shoreline Solar Project is pleased to announce a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Wednesday, March 31st to celebrate the new 20.2 kW solar electric system on the City Hall's parking garage.
Do you see the sun? It's out there right now. Everyday. It comes up. It goes down. And in the middle it gives off enough energy in one minute to power the earth for an entire year. All we need to do is figure out how to harness that energy.
Enter solar power...
Solar Power has been around for decades but until recently was unable to compete with the fossil fuels as a viable, affordable option for the general public.
