Seattle Greendrinks had a blow-out celebration of five years connecting Seattle's environmental community on 10 June 2008, with nearly 1,100 enjoying crafts at Alchemy Goods, tea at The Pear Garden, delicious food and DJ's miss b. wonder jones and KEXP's Riz at Herban Feast's SoDo Park.

The four young boys featured in "The Boys of Baraka," despite individual talents and considerable personal charms, cannot escape the common fate expressed by those options. But fate, as documented in this film, comes to them with a remarkable and fickle twist — an experimental boarding school in rural Kenya.

The north / east Capitol Hill branch of July Greendrinks will be at the organic tea cafe, Remedy Teas, at 345 15th Avenue East. Remedy will be offering discounted food, $1 off pots of tea, and pitchers of their amazing Matcha Green Tea Mojitos. You won't want to miss this! As with all Seattle Greendrinks gatherings, the event will begin between 5:30 and 6pm on Tuesday, 8 July.

The Belltown branch of July Greendrinks will be held at the Cafe Amore, at 2301 5th Ave. It will be hosted by Sustainable Belltown. Check out this great restaurant, which shops local, uses recycled products, sells used oil for biodiesel, and more. Greendrinkers will enjoy extended happy hour prices in the Cafe Amore theatre.

The event will feature interesting conversation, as well as $2 drink and appetizer specials and a taste of cuisine of Eritrea. As with all Seattle Greendrinks gatherings, the event will begin between 5:30 and 6pm on Tuesday, 8 July, and will end at 8pm.

The south / west Capitol Hill branch of July Greendrinks will be at the organic tea cafe, Grey Gallery & Lounge, at 1512 11th Avenue East. Enjoy happy hour prices all evening at this venue that doesn't use high fructose corn syrup, stocks organic ingredients, tries to source within 200-300 miles, and makes - from scratch - organic crepes. As with all Seattle Greendrinks gatherings, this event will begin between 5:30 and 6pm on Tuesday, 8 July.

Our City Council needs us next Tuesday, July 8 at 7pm at the Council Chambers, 600 4th Ave, to lend our support to legislation that would ban styrofoam and create "green fees" for disposable bags.

Opponents to this legislation are speaking loudly. As a proponent of the ban and fee, I want to make sure I'm speaking loudly, too. So I will, at next week's public comment session.
