TrailsFest 2008

The great outdoors of Washington is calling! Come to TrailsFest, Saturday July 19, 9am - 4pm at Rattlesnake Lake in North Bend.

This outdoor extravaganza features clinics on everything from wilderness first aid to hiking with kids to backcountry cooking. Take a guided hike, tie a fly on, or climb a rock wall. Try out a new s’mores recipe, or hang out with packgoats. Visit dozens of exhibitors, including gear companies and outdoor groups. It's all at TrailsFest!

Hosted by the Northwest Environmental Education Council.

Discover how you can reduce your ecological footprint at home without breaking the bank! Guest presenters from GreenBuild and ECOSS will give you tips and tricks on home energy efficiency, remodeling, green-cleaning, how to install a rain barrel, and more!

We will also be selling rain barrels for just $25 each, and giving two away for FREE!

EcoTuesday is a forum for sustainable business leaders to come together to network, collaborate, and engage with one another in a structured environment. Each month EcoTuesday features opportunities for sustainable business leaders to network and learn about current issues from an innovative speaker and from one another.

The Other Biofuel: Ethanol. Does corn ethanol deserve all of its bad rap or is it petroleum propaganda? What do biodiesel and ethanol share in common and what sets them apart? If you’ ever had to answer questions about ethanol or defend biodiesel because of it, do not miss this meeting. Second Use Workshop Series:
Wood Finish Restoration
Thurs, July 31st 5:30-7pm

Learn how to restore wood finishes on doors, furniture, cabinets, and art objects. This class will focus on minimally invasive techniques that preserve your pieces while restoring luster and diminishing distress.

You can even bring along a small piece for consultation and advice. The class will include demonstration and hands-on experience.

Instructor: Kate Joyce
In addition to working at Second Use, Kate has decades of experience in design, furniture, and art consultation.

SPOKESPEOPLE welcomes bicyclists at all levels of experience from first-time urban cyclists through expert commuters to ride in a free, healthy, sustainable monthly city event. SPOKESPEOPLE will ride to adjacent neighborhoods from Wallingford Playfield 4219 Wallingford Ave. N. on the first Saturday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
