The home tour this month features one of Seattle’s foremost “green builders”. Jim Barger with Greenleaf Construction will talk to us about his project in Seattle’s Central District. Complementing their great designs is the inclusion of salvaged, reclaimed, and double-use materials which clearly illustrates their holistic approach to urban infill development. The tour starts at ecoHAUS at 11:00and includes a discussion about green building materials and lunch. Then off to the house to meet with the builder. | ||

Crooked Trails, a non profit community based travel company and long time partner of Maiti Nepal – the organization battling sexual slavery in India and Nepal, is proud to host the founder of this amazing organization Anuradha Koirala in Seattle on October 16th. Ms. Koirala will be in Seattle for a very special screening and Q&A of the award winning documentary The Day My God Died, narrated by Winona Ryder and Tim Robbins. Green Seattle Day is a one day citywide effort to plant native trees and shurbs in Seattle's urban forests. NWEEC and the Green Seattle Partnership will work to restore the Maple School Natural Area, a 15 acre Beacon Hill green space and pedestrian corridor that has been devastated by invasive ivy and blackberry. Join us to remove these invasive plants, lay down mulch, and replant native species to create a beautiful and healthy community greenspace!
