FREE SOLARFEST

Exhibits, vendors, speakers, live music, Kid Zone, Film Festival, Transportation Zone, and the Taste of Shoreline hosted by the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce

The all-day event is free to the public. The Fair began in 2004 to help people make informed decisions regarding their use of resources including energy, transportation, and food. Showcased are more than 90 organizations and business that apply concepts of conservation and sustainability in their business models and practices. This is the longest running event of its kind in the Puget Sound Region.

Event organizers are estimating 5,000 will attend to learn about the renewable energy technologies and choices they have for more sustainable living. The "Kid Zone" features hands on activities including paper making, solar cookers, a solar fountain, gymnastics, and using recycled materials to make creations and things that move with solar power. The Transportation Zone features bicycles, alternative fuel vehicles such as electric and biodiesel, lightweight and high mileage vehicles. Presentations will take place throughout the day. Important topics including home solar systems and electric vehicles will be addressed. The Film Festival will show documentaries throughout the day.

The Shoreline Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring “The Taste of Shoreline.” This offers fairgoers a chance to sample many delicious menu items from area restaurants, diners, and grills. Food will be available for purchase.
