Stop Global Warming with Words: a messaging workshop

We have opportunities every day to spread accurate information about the science and solutions to climate change. In casual conversation, in blog responses, letters to editors, and e-mails to media we can correct misinformation and turn the tide to public support for clean energy and conservation.

This workshop will start with a presentation on:

* Scientifically proven persuasive techniques: (Tell about your success and the strength of support for your issue. Use the word ‘because.’ Appeal to others’ values and beliefs. When giving bad news, always recommend a remedy….)
* Advertising gimmicks: (patriotism, testimonials, glittering generalities….)
* Ways to take science to people: (anecdotes, analogies and appeals to the heart.)

After a discussion of best methods and common dilemmas, we will practice advocating for Mother Earth. We will help each other create short individual statements about clean energy and climate for different situations and practice responding to common misconceptions.
