About Constance:

Represented by the ACLU, 18-year-old Constance sued school officials and won a federal court ruling in March that her Mississippi high school violated her First Amendment rights when it canceled the school prom rather than let her attend with her girlfriend. School officials then cruelly put on a "decoy" prom for her while the rest of her classmates were at a private prom 30 miles away.

Constance’s courage in standing up for her rights earned her an invitation to a White House reception with the President.

And Constance won an important victory in July when school officials agreed to implement a policy banning discrimination or harassment on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, the first policy to do so at a public school in Mississippi.
