Stormwater in the Puget Sound region
Contaminated stormwater runoff is the leading cause of pollution in Puget Sound. Pollutants from cars, accidental spills, lawn care products and other sources accumulate on unpaved surfaces such as parking lots and city streets. During rain storms, these contaminants are conveyed into storm drains that flow untreated into our local rivers, lakes, and Puget Sound.
