Do you value Washington’s National Forests? Join local conservation and recreation advocates for a happy hour reception on March 23rd at 5 p.m. in downtown Seattle. We will raise a glass to our forests and share ideas on how you can help shape the new National Forest Planning Rules. These rules determine how local National Forests manage precious resources and are key to protecting wildlife, watersheds, habitat and recreational opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. After 6 p.m., we will proceed to the U.S. National Forest Service’s Planning Rule Open House, two blocks away at the Sheraton Hotel.
The Forest Service is considering new rules that will determine how our National Forests are managed, including more than 9 million acres here in Washington State. While the draft rule is a good first step towards modernizing Forest Planning for the 21st century, there are some key areas where the rule needs improvement.
