BGI is pleased to host filmmaker Peter Byck for a screening and discussion of his documentary Carbon Nation, a movie about actionable climate change solutions that cut across the political spectrum. Scoring strong reviews from the Huffington Post, LA Times, Seattle Times, and Bloomberg, among other publications, Carbon Nation is an entertaining, informed and pragmatic primer about why it’s smart to be a part of the new, low-carbon economy even for those who don’t believe in climate change: it’s good business.
Since space is limited, RSVP is required to rsvp@bgi.edu. The event is free, though a $5 donations to Peter Byck’s film and travel budget is encouraged.
Among the many inspiring figures featured in the film are Amory Lovins (Chairman, RMI), Richard Branson (CEO, Virgin Group), Thomas L. Friedman (New York Times columnist), Former CIA Director James Woolsey, Van Jones (Founder, Green For All), Col. Dan Nolan, U.S. Army (Ret), Denis Hayes (Founder of Earth Day), and Jim Rogers (CEO, Duke Energy).
Quotes from the movie:
“Do I think man is causing global warming? No, but that doesn’t make any difference. I want clean water and I want clean air. And that’s so simple.”–THE WILD ALASKAN
“Climate change in fact is a national security issue. This is no longer the purview of Birkenstock-wearing tree huggers. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.” –THE ARMY COLONEL
“So if you don’t give a damn about the environment, do it because you’re a greedy bastard and you just want cheap power.” –THE BIOCHEMICAL ENGINEER
