From the United Nations to local tourism organizations, travel industry leaders and local governments are responding to the growing need for tourism opportunities and guidelines that support strong local economies, preserve environmental integrity and sustain cultures.

What is Sustainable Tourism? Join NBIS and The Arbor Group for an exciting panel with industry leaders to discuss this important topic. The panel includes:

Cynthia Dunbar, REI Adventures – How REI incorporates its mission of stewardship and sustainability into its REI Adventures programs.

Christine Mackay, Co-founder and Executive Director of Crooked Trails, helping people broaden their understanding of the planet and its diverse cultures through education, community development, and responsible travel.

Janice Lichtenwaldt, sustainable tourism advocate, formerly with Global Sustainable Tourism Council and with Expedia: developing and promoting international guidelines for sustainable tourism.

Amy Gulick, founding fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers and author of the award-winning photojournalism book Salmon in the Trees: Life in Alaska’s Tongass Rain Forest (event will include a book-signing)
