By forming cooperatives, workers and consumers put themselves in charge of their own enterprises. As community-owned organizations, cooperatives have a higher stake in our environmental health, and new research shows that such local, decentralized ownership fosters civic engagement—a condition that is crucial for working together to advance sustainability.

Join YES! Magazine in welcoming cooperative innovators and changemakers to the May Greendrinks for “We Heart Co-ops!” It’s a celebration of Seattle’s co-op movement. On the heels of its popular Spring issue, How Cooperatives Are Driving the New Economy, YES! is hosting co-op experts from across Puget Sound who can answer questions about starting and sustaining co-ops, and what cooperatives are contributing to the sustainability movement. This is a fun chance to network right here in Seattle to build a more cooperative green economy. Plus, we’ll have beer, wine, ice cream, chocolate, 1-year subscriptions to YES! Magazine, and food from Central Co-op.

YES! Magazine is an ad-free, donor-funded magazine that reframes the biggest problems of our time in terms of their solutions. Online and in print, they outline a path forward with in-depth analysis, tools for citizen engagement, and stories about real people working for a better world. YES! Magazine is printed on 100% post-consumer waste, chlorine-free paper. They reach more than 150,000 readers quarterly, and more than 140,000 people visit their website each month, where new stories are posted every day.
