Commercial Water Conservation Specialist

Position Description
Cascadia is currently seeking an Associate with expertise in commercial water conservation and facility operations. This position could be based in either our Seattle, Washington or Phoenix, Arizona office. This employee will be responsible for managing projects and securing new business in Cascadia’s Program Development and Implementation Core Service Area, and can expect to serve a range of clients including private-sector companies, local governments, and industrial facilities.
Primary Responsibilities
▪ Conduct water audits and in-field water assessments using a suite of tools including ultrasonic water meters, inline meters, motor loggers, or conductivity meters.
▪ Direct and manage projects focused on best practices and innovations in water technology and commercial water conservation. Related tasks include developing project scopes, budgets, timelines, and staffing plans; implementing projects on time and within budget; communicating and coordinating with internal staff, external partners, and clients; and producing high-quality work products and deliverables.
▪ Provide technical assistance, examine records and data, and conduct site visits to identify conservation opportunities.
▪ Analyze water consumption data and quantify potential water and cost savings.
▪ Prepare reports based upon inspection findings.
▪ Identify and secure new projects and opportunities aligned with commercial, industrial, and institutional best practices related to water conservation, including participating in proposal writing and presentations to prospective clients.
▪ Supervise and provide direction to assigned project staff as needed to ensure quality work.
▪ Contribute to a working environment conducive to team effectiveness, quality, creativity, and positive morale across Cascadia offices.
▪ Research and stay abreast of industry trends and developments. Participate in relevant professional group meetings and conferences.

Minimum Qualifications
▪ Experience-based knowledge of a range of water conservation strategies, technologies, and equipment. Understanding of established best practices, new developments, and innovations in the field.
▪ Experience implementing and evaluating water optimization and water reuse strategies.
▪ Working knowledge of technical water- and cost-savings analysis and reporting regarding water use and conservation.
▪ Familiarity with a wide variety of commercial water-consuming processes and equipment, including cooling towers, medical vacuum pumps and sterilizers, single-pass HVAC units, commercial laundry systems, reverse osmosis, restaurant equipment, food processing equipment, high-efficiency restroom fixtures, fleet washing, irrigation systems, and/or industrial product rinsing.
▪ Experience using ultrasonic water meters, inline meters, motor loggers, conductivity meters, and other equipment to accurately characterize usage patterns and verify potential and/or realized water savings.
▪ Proficiency in operations and water facility management, including equipment monitoring and maintenance.
▪ Must be organized, self‐motivated, able to set work priorities and act independently with minimal supervision.
▪ A minimum of three years of professional experience in water conservation is required. Five or more years of direct experience in the sector is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
▪ Experience providing technical assistance and/or commissioning services.
▪ Experience developing and managing project budgets.
▪ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
▪ Experience working with diverse communities and reaching multicultural audiences.
▪ Excellent organizational and documentation skills and great attention to detail.
▪ Strong communication skills and ability to interact well with diverse customers, clients, and partners.
▪ Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with advanced Word and Excel analysis capabilities.
▪ A two-year technical degree or four-year college degree is preferred. Advanced degree or certification in a relevant field is also welcomed.
Compensation and Benefits
Cascadia provides opportunities for flexible employee work schedules. This position could be either full- or part-time, depending upon candidate experience and business needs. Salary is commensurate with experience.
