Title: Development and Events Associate (full-time)
Location: Seattle, WA – Greenwood
Reports to: Development Director

Washington Wild is seeking a full-time Development and Events Associate who is inspired by the opportunity to learn and build skills in a small nonprofit setting while also striving to advance the organization’s mission.

Founded in 1979, Washington Wild has played an invaluable role in permanently protecting nearly three million acres of Wilderness throughout Washington State. We bring people together in the vigorous defense of our wild forests, waters, and wildlife. Position Summary
The Development and Events Associate will be a vital position in the development department focusing internally on key organizational components and externally on event promotion and staffing. This position is a unique blend of database management, development program support, and special event coordination. The Associate will work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including our 6-person staff, board members, volunteers, donors, corporate partners, and others as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities
Database Management and Gift Processing – 40%

This position will act as the organization’s central knowledge base and gatekeeper with respect to our CRM Salsa database. Develop a deep understanding of Salsa CRM and leverage this resource to benefit all programs and outreach efforts. Maintain, promote, and document best practices and policies associated with member, donor, and engagement management. Responsible for processing membership donations including data entry, sending donor receipt/thank you, and preparing deposits. Manage and upkeep donor database, ensuring consistent and accurate entries. Generates reports to measure results of membership campaigns, advocacy campaigns, and overall membership retention and growth.

Event Coordination and Support – 40%

Washington Wild hosts or participates in upwards of 50 events annually. The event coordination role will involve significant responsibility in our annual auction to include auction item procurement, event promotion, collaborating with committee, and night-of logistics. There may also be quarterly smaller events to coordinate. The event support role will involve working with program staff to promote outreach and engagement events and representing the organization at outreach events.

Program and Administrative Support – 20%

The program and administrative support role will work primarily within the Development program, but will also collaborate with staff on various projects, and can expect to assist with a range of work that may include drafting and editing membership appeals, updating the website, assisting in communications, and researching grant opportunities.

An ideal candidate will be someone who is tech savvy, detail oriented, and enjoys seeing their work contributing to a broader outcome. They will be eager to learn new systems and think about ways to improve them for the organization. They can ask for help and guidance but also think critically on their own and adapt to new situations. The following qualities and qualifications may be found in our ideal candidate:

Creative, resourceful, and curious to dig deeper when faced with challenges,
Possesses strong computer skills, experience with database CRM software preferred
Ability to troubleshoot basic office technology,
High attention to detail, particularly with data and numbers, and ability to evaluate program metrics,
Event coordination and event planning skills,
Ability to develop an understanding of the organization’s mission and programs and possesses capacity to convey these effectively,
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing,
Ability to work effectively as a team member, to manage multiple tasks and set priorities.
Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate external events, evenings and weekends sometimes required.
We are open to combinations of the following education and professional experience:
BA/BS, or higher level of education,
2+ years administrative or project coordination experience,
Minimum 2 years of professional experience, preferably in nonprofits,
Compensation and Benefits
This position is full-time (40 hrs/week) pays $18/hour. Benefits include monthly medical stipend, opportunity to join our retirement savings program with a 3% match, and vacation, holiday, and sick time off. Washington Wild offers a flexible work schedule.
