JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: Development Associate, FSC Investments & Partnerships

Building on 20 years of innovation and growth, the Forest Stewardship Council has embarked on a strategic repositioning designed to double the organization’s global impact in the coming years. FSC Investments & Partnerships is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 2016 with a commitment to dramatically accelerate the profile of FSC’s work, highlight its urgency, and fund its ambition to steward the world’s forests. Its goal is to accelerate the engagement and contributions of individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies around the world.

This position supports FSC’s triple-bottom-line mission of social equity, environmental responsibility, and economic prosperity, and brings opportunities for both personal achievement and professional growth.

In the early 1990s, an international group of leaders in business, human rights, and the environment came together to develop standards for managing forests and ensuring the integrity of the products we derive from them. These visionaries were responding to the many dire threats to the world’s forest ecosystems, which have only accelerated since then.
The Forest Stewardship Council® was born. As a market-based reform effort, FSC’s vision is extraordinarily ambitious: use the power of businesses and consumers to create the world’s first market driven model for responsible management of the world’s forests. See www.ic.fsc.org for more information.

Today we can celebrate progress. FSC® is the globally recognized leadership standard for forest management and supply chain certification, covering nearly 500 million acres, 30,000 companies, and 10% of forest products market share. It is the only system that:
• Is endorsed by leading environmental and social advocates, and used as a tool to advance their missions,
• Adds demonstrable social, environmental, and economic value, and
• Is governed by an open, balanced membership and free of collusion or undue influence.

The Development Associate supports donor development and is responsible for gift processing and donor acknowledgements. The position is accountable for maintaining high standards in donor relations and communications and will provide administrative support as needed to assist in fundraising efforts.

1. Support donor engagement and strategy development.
