Seattle Parks Foundation (SPF) seeks a Director for Community Partnerships to promote a network of community leaders who share SPF’s vision of a city connected by great parks, trails, and public spaces. S/he will collaborate with the Executive Director and Board, revamping the organization’s brand, online presence, and business model to enhance the visibility of, support for, and opportunities to engage with community-led park and trail projects across the city. The Director for Community Partnerships will identify and work with emerging civic leaders to help shape the future of SPF and Seattle’s public space system. This new full-time position reports to the Executive Director.

Seattle Parks Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes enhanced public and private-sector funding for parks and trail projects throughout the city, and supports neighborhood-led projects through fiscal sponsorships, technical assistance, and fundraising services. Since 2001, SPF has raised $38 million to create, expand and enhance Seattle’s public space system.

We seek a candidate who will:
• Engage leaders of neighborhood park and trail projects across the city to develop and implement a business plan that increases the number of projects SPF supports with as a fiscal sponsor or fundraising agent, and expands the range of services SPF can provide to ensure success of these projects
• Work with colleague institutions and the Parks Board to build a citywide alliance of 5,000+ individuals and 50+ organizations to advocate for long-term sustainable funding for great parks, trails, and public spaces in Seattle, laying the groundwork for a 2014 ballot measure campaign
• Oversee and build on the annual citywide LOVE PARKS event in collaboration with EarthCorps, REI, and Seattle Parks Department
• Work with colleague institutions and public-sector and community leaders to support development of a “hundred-year vision” for Seattle’s public spaces that inspires SPF donors and helps guide public policy

• High level strategic planning
• Community outreach, engagement, and advocacy
• Promotion of SPF brand, projects, and community partners
• Strategic engagement with public sector leadership

Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong leadership
• Effective community organizing, coalition building, volunteer management, meeting facilitation, and event planning and oversight
• High degree of cultural competence
• Excellent communication skills, including social media, public speaking, writing
• Ability to thrive in a team environment and work with minimal supervision
• Flexibility to work some weekend and evening hours for community events and engagements
