This business has grown rapidly the last few years and has an extensive network of trusted trade allies, retail partners, manufacturers, measurement and verification partners. This team leverages those relationships to deliver the energy savings or peak power solutions our clients most desire.
As our utility clients gear up their energy efficiency and distributed generation programs, the opportunities are plentiful for making a big impact while we continue to grow Ecos. Our Utility Solutions Team has an immediate need for a Director Residential Building Efficiency, herein referred to as Director Operations, Residential Whole Homes based out of our Portland office. In this role, you will report to the Chief Operating Officer and have the opportunity to have a significant impact on our continued success.
Role Description
As the Director, Residential Whole Homes you will be responsible for the delivery, maintenance, continuous improvement and growth of residential whole home energy efficiency programs for utility clients nationwide, including staff and resource management to achieve client and program efficiency and financial goals.
You will lead the Residential Building Efficiency Solutions team in a professional, world-class manner ensuring operational success and department growth that aligns with Ecos’ strategic goals and client satisfaction metrics. To achieve this you will participate on the Senior Leadership team and other cross functional teams, and manage programs and individuals in a high performance fashion creating a performance-oriented, values-based culture and esprit de corps.
In managing the Residential Building Efficiency Solutions department, you and your teams will be responsible for planning, executing and managing a number of diverse utility residential energy efficiency programs operating nationally. You will manage program deliverables and reporting requirements in a timely fashion that meets or exceeds client expectations.
Coordinating with Strategy and Innovation (S&I) you will plan and implement program pilots. You will work with S&I to ensure value propositions of all stakeholders are well understood and implemented. In addition you will direct the development and management of project work plans, resource budgets, client reports, and communication plans. Partnering with Ecos shared service teams including Finance, Human Resources, Origination and Structuring (proposal development), Marketing, IT and the Strategy and Innovation group you will cohesively implement high value programs to support our strategic growth.
In collaboration with internal teams you will finalize program contract and scopes of work budget including but not limited to the writing and/or review of proposals to determine profit & loss feasibility, labor costs, timeline, funding, staffing requirements to meet business unit and company goals. Utilizing your project management skills you will lead project selection, scoping, defining, and reviewing to ensure alignment with business vision and strategy. You will also work as a contributor to cross-departmental key strategic initiatives and be responsible for process improvements within their business line.
You will manage organizational growth and risk through the adoption of thorough, efficient operational procedures including status reporting, staff meetings, operations reviews and dashboards and key performance indicators. You will acquire, lead, train, develop and retain team leaders, project managers and technical talent to ensure consistent delivery and quality assurance of Ecos' business line solutions. Budget Forecasting (revenue) and establishing, managing and meeting both short-term and long-term financial targets, and overseeing program budgets and contracts are essential to this role. You will oversee development and management of project work plans, resource budgets, client reports, and communication plans.
Applying your deep understanding and experience in the utility demand side energy efficiency market, building science, industry technologies and processes, and the utility regulatory landscape you will prepare and present white papers, briefs, and presentation on product and service offerings Ecos delivers to support Ecos as a thought leader.
Role Competencies
As our ideal candidate you possess a bachelor's degree; an advanced degree in business management, environmental policy, energy management is preferred. You bring 8 years of experience in demand side energy efficiency practices and procedures, and 5 years of successful experience cultivating, leading and directing others including cross-functional and matrix-managed teams. You are adept at managing client relationships, preferably with utility client experience, at the Director and Vice President (or higher) levels.
You have experience managing P&L and/or departmental budgets, and have demonstrated ability to manage programs and products on time, on budget, in scope. You possess a strong financial and project management acumen and a solid understanding of business and financial implications related to product development and delivery.
You have a strong orientation towards consulting and strategic thinking. This is complemented by your excellent written and verbal skills and your ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt quickly to new opportunities. Your ability to execute results from your strong planning, implementation and organizational skills, and your advanced level of Microsoft Office Suite applications will be essential to this role.
