Closes January 25--Responsibilities & Coordination--The Duwamish Longhouse Director serves as the public face of the Duwamish Longhouse and is concerned with generating sales revenues to support operations and build a stable business. Plans and conducts all special events and artist exhibits. Gives group tours. Coordinates with Duwamish Art Committee to determine gallery exhibits and consignment gift shop mix. Arranges for monthly inventory. Recruits and supervises volunteers. Coordinates with Operations Manager: to sell rental space to individuals and organizations, to work with the gala committee and other tasks as needed. Coordinates with Bookkeeper and Operations Manager to maintain acceptable accounting procedures as per the policies & procedures manual.
Scheduling and Physical Requirements--Works some evenings and weekends to support special events and venue rentals as needed. Be both self starting and a team player. A friendly and helpful manner is a must in working with the public. Be a problems solver. Responsible for set up and breakdown meeting rooms for events. Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds. Some janitorial duties maybe needed to support an event.
Public Relations Duties--Must know how to develop a media plan. Write, circulate press releases and event announcements to media, including event calendars and blogs in a timely manner.
Supervision and Reporting--The Duwamish Longhouse Director reports to the Chair of the tribal council and be overseen by the DTS Board which handles the day-to-day issues. The tribal council manages of strategic issues and serves as executive committee of the DTS Board.
