Are you interested in writing and speaking about the environment, volunteering, community activism and finding the latest ways to help twentysomethings make a difference? Are you interested in using the latest technology to reach out to people of all age groups through social networking sites and the internet? If so, this internship offers the opportunity to spend your time gaining practical skills and experience by working with tenways.org. Ten Ways to Change the World in Your Twenties is an organization and book whose mission is to offer tangible ideas to young adults who wish to be active in shaping our world for the better, but who may lack the guidance and resources to easily do so. The author is currently looking for an independent, hard-working, and motivated intern to help her with two main projects:

Internship Specifics

1. Marketing Ten Ways to Change the World in Your Twenties
• Research and contact local media outlets to promote campus and speaking events
• Draft press releases to distribute to various media outlets
• Investigate new, up-and-coming organizations and businesses to include in future updates
• Research and draft various elements of presentations
• Various administrative tasks

2. Developing Ten Ways website, and online presence
• Enhancing Search Engine Optimization by increasing presence on Twitter, Facebook and other media outlets
• Connecting tenways.org to related blogs, websites and networking sites.
• Updating photo, text, layout and events of tenways.org using web-editing software

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Proven research experience
• Demonstrated interest in service/activism.
• Quick learner, willingness to take on any task (i.e. calling schools and orgs, research, whatever is needed)
• Solid work ethic, positive can-do attitude, and high standard of professionalism
• Proficient in MS Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience with Contribute and/or website design/editing experience
• Solid understanding of social networking sites and technology (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

Timeframe and Compensation
This internship is intended for college seniors or graduates who are interested in activism, marketing, and writing and are willing to work 10-15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. Opportunities for more involvement in writing and/or public relations can be created depending on applicant’s interest. Hours and workdays are flexible to meet intern needs, with the possibility of working remotely as well.

The position is unpaid, but working with Ten Ways will provide excellent career-related skills and support.
