Cascadia Consulting Group is a recognized leader in environmental management consulting. Based in Seattle with a branch office in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cascadia is a professional firm with particular expertise in three practice areas: waste reduction and recycling; climate change and sustainability; and water and natural resources. This entry-level consulting position will support developing and implementing creative solutions to 21st century environmental challenges such as carbon footprinting, sustainability planning, and energy and waste audits for residents, businesses, and local and state government agencies. We are seeking a dynamic candidate who is able to work across our three practice areas and provide value in the field as well as in the office.

Primary job responsibilities for this position include:

•Assist with the writing, production, and overall execution of proposals and reports.
•Conduct quantitative analyses, including development and use of spreadsheets and databases.
•Utilize MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint to create and deliver professional and informative presentations and reports.
•Participate in field work (out-of-office) conducting surveys, outreach, and/or waste or recycling sorting. Conduct thorough policy-related research and analysis through interviews with industry experts and internet-based literature reviews.
•Provide support for education-based projects and event planning to include volunteer coordination and outreach to businesses and the public on a variety of topics such as recycling, gardening, and weatherization.
•Perform related administrative and support duties as required.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

•An undergraduate degree, preferably with coursework in quantitative methods (e.g., economics, mathematics) and/or environmental studies (e.g., ecology, environmental science/policy, geology, geography).
•Strong critical thinking and research skills, including capabilities in systems thinking and quantitative analysis.
•Clear and concise writing skills.
•Excellent verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal skills. Ideally be a “people person” and feel comfortable making phone calls (including cold calls) to businesses, volunteers, industry, and the public.
•Skill in using spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office programs.
•Ability to work effectively with businesses and the public in diverse communities and underserved areas.

Other highly desired qualifications include:
•Demonstrated interest or experience in energy efficiency
•Ability to speak Spanish, Vietnamese, Somali, Chinese, or Korean
•Existing contacts with businesses or public in diverse communities and underserved areas

Expected annual salary range is in the low to mid-30s, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, 401K, transportation assistance, and generous vacation. For the right candidate, this position has opportunities for growth and progressively increasing project responsibility.
