With offices in Seattle and San Jose, our staff of 35 specializes in recycling and materials management, energy efficiency, climate change mitigation and adaptation, sustainability, and natural resource planning. We provide clients with a range of services from research and analysis, to facilitation and strategic planning, to education and outreach, to program design, management and evaluation.

Cascadia is currently hiring a Project Assistant to support implementation of energy efficiency projects and to perform quantitative analysis. This position will involve:

Energy efficiency
• Provide on-call energy efficiency consulting services to homeowners and small businesses pursuing energy efficiency upgrade projects.
• Answer programmatic and building science questions, explain the benefits of energy efficiency, and support technical experts in the field.
• Assist with delivery of energy efficiency programs, providing customer support, managing customer and contractor interactions using a customized IT platform, and assisting with data collection and analysis for reporting purposes.

Quantitative analysis
• Conduct quantitative analyses and develop new quantitative tools to assist clients in assessing their sustainability impacts, setting goals and targets, and measuring their progress with indicators and metrics.

• Conduct policy-related research and analysis through interviews with industry experts and internet-based literature reviews.
• Assist with the writing, production, and overall execution of proposals and reports.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:
• An undergraduate degree in economics, math, science, business, environmental studies or some combination thereof
• Building science expertise
• Demonstrated quantitative analysis skills
• Strong critical thinking and research skills
• Clear and concise writing skills
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
• Skill in using spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledge of waste education and recycling, natural yard care, climate change, energy efficiency, water conservation, green building, and/or hazardous waste management

Other highly desired qualifications include:
• Building Performance Institute (BPI) training or certification
• Previous experience working with relational databases
• Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel
• Training in mechanical engineering
