Summer Door Canvassers

Do you have a passion for wilderness, wild waters and wildlife? Do you enjoy talking to people? We need qualified people to join our summer door canvass to help us protect Washington's remaining wild areas.

Founded in 1979, Washington Wilderness Coalition (WWC) is an innovative group open to new ideas and ways of reaching out to people to help protect our wild lands and waters.

The job of the canvasser is to contact citizens and inform them of the reasons for protecting wild land and waters--habitat and watershed protection, clean air, carbon sinks, recreation, and spiritual renewal. This involves speaking with members and potential new members, explaining the threats to wild areas, encouraging letter writing, collecting public comment cards, and some good ol' fundraising.

We offer a strong base wage and generous performance bonuses. This is a full-time position. Regular working hours are Sunday , 12-6 pm and Monday - Thursday, 3:30 - 9:30 pm.

Pay rate is $11.00/hour plus generous bonuses.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* A passion for protecting Washington's wild lands, waters and wildlife.
* Able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Able to communicate issues in a clear, compelling manner both verbally and in writing.

This is more relaxed, less high pressure than your usual canvass job. WWC emphasizes, and achieves success through, inclusive cultivation and two-way symmetrical conversations.

Prior experience working for a field and/or phone canvass or other telephone or door to door outreach is desirable. Nonsmokers are preferred.
