Office Nomads seeks an intern to assist with our growing business! For any students out there who are looking to gain experience in the future of business collaboration, look no further.
What is Office Nomads?
Office Nomads is a coworking space situated smack dab in the middle of Capitol Hill in Seattle. We are a community of independent workers - designers, writers, editors, developers, scientists, students, and entrepreneurs who know that being independent doesn't have to mean being isolated. Our office provides an attractive alternative to working from home, working from a coffee shop, or squatting in a single rental office. Our space invites us all to be productive - by working alongside one another (and sometimes even working together) we are happier AND do better work. Simple as that.
What is coworking?
Coworking is redefining the way we do work. The idea is simple: that independent professionals and those with workplace flexibility work better together than they do alone. Coworking answers the question that so many face when working from home: “Why isn’t this as fun as I thought it would be?” Beyond just creating better places to work, coworking spaces are built around the idea of community-building and sustainability. Coworking spaces agree to uphold the values set forth by those who developed the concept in the first place: collaboration, community, sustainability, openness, and accessibility. Read all about it on the coworking wiki or via the coworking Google Group.
Why are we looking for an intern?
We realized that we have a unique learning opportunity available to students who want to be immersed in an entrepreneurial environment. Coworking is a global, open-source business model that is seeing growing strength. The opportunities to learn from our business and our members are vast - interns will have the opportunity to pick up on what it takes to start a small business, what it means to run a sustainability-focused, locally-minded business, and how to foster the growth of a community of independents.
Projects may include (but are not limited to):
• Member recruitment
• Marketing
• Social media participation (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc.)
• Office management (such as managing our member log, giving tours of the space, answering the phone, etc.)
• Community building strategy development & implementation
We'd be really excited if you happened to have some of the following experience (although if you don't have any of them, that's A-OK!):
• Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc.)
• Sustainable products & processes (from supplies ordering to energy effiency strategies)
• WordPress for websites
• Django database creation & editing skills
Please submit your resume and a brief note saying why you think you'd be great for the job to susan@officenomads.com. Resumes will be accepted through June 26, 2009. Please note this is an unpaid internship.
