Climate Solutions is seeking an outgoing, energetic, self-motivated and outcome-oriented individual to help manage our foundation fundraising program and assist with other critical elements of our development program. The Development Associate (DA) will be responsible for the day to day grants management, coordinating grant proposals and reports and tracking important deadlines. The DA will also assist major donor functions like donor research and other administrative functions including donor communications, acknowledgement systems, events and research.

This is a full-time position based in Seattle or Olympia. The Development Associate reports to the Individual Gifts & Grants Manager and will also work in close collaboration with Climate Solutions’ director-level staff.

Job Responsibilities

Foundations
The Development Associate is responsible for the day to day management of our foundation program. Specific responsibilities include:
• Coordinate foundation research – manage an ongoing list of new foundation prospects and pursue appropriate strategies for engaging them in Climate Solutions’ work.
• Work with the staff leadership team regarding planning, identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundation grants.
• Coordinate proposal development with key program staff and serve as proposal editor.
• Manage foundation tracking of deadlines, contacts and meetings.
• Coordinate the production of updates and final reports; ensure that they are completed and mailed out by appropriate deadlines.

Administration
The Development Associate will also assist major donor functions like donor research and other administrative functions including donor communications, acknowledgement systems, events and research.
• Work with the development team to track and generate gift reminders, thank yous and generate other reports as needed.
• Provide support to Development team for planning, research and events.

Qualifications
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to effectively manage an ongoing program, set priorities, and manage objectives; experience creating plans and timelines.
• Proficient with several computer and other communication technologies including donor databases and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Flexibility and desire to take on additional responsibilities as opportunities and needs arise.
• Commitment to the mission and goals of Climate Solutions.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range starting at $32,000 depending on qualifications, with generous vacation policy and full health/vision/dental coverage for employee.
